What is a cookie?
A cookie is a small text file that is stored on the user's computer, tablet, smartphone or similar and allows the website to recognize this device. Cookies can, for example, be used to compile statistics on the user's use of the website or to optimize the website's content.
A cookie is a passive file that cannot collect information from the user's computer or spread computer viruses or other malicious programs. Some cookies are placed by websites (third parties) other than the one specified in the browser's address bar (URL). The content of these cookies can be of a general nature, but they can also, for example, be analytical tools or embedded comment fields. This means that cookies are also stored by parties other than the website owner.
Some cookies are temporary and expire when the user's session on the website ends and the browser is closed (session cookies). Other cookies are stored on the user's IT equipment for a longer period of time (permanent cookies). When the user revisits a website, new session cookies will be placed in the temporary memory, while permanent cookies will be renewed.
